The Precita Eyes muralistas were hired to paint a six-story mural on the side of an affordable housing apartment complex in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. Directed by Steve Agnos and Henry Dombey, EYES UP: A Mural for the Tenderloin, the 2023 “Best of Bernal” award-winner, documents the progress of the muralists as they worked, their inspiration, motivation and process. Steve Agnos and featured cast member, Susan Cervantes of Precita Eyes Muralists, will join the audience in Q&A, post-screening.
Half Return, the 2023 “Good Life Audience” award-winner, is directed by Mathilde Luz Smith, who at the time was a senior at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (SOTA). This film movingly depicts estranged sisters who confronted by memories of childhood, may find a way back together.
