September 4-6 & October 7, 2014montage

2014 coverBERNAL HEIGHTS OUTDOOR CINEMA returns for its 11th season with free film screenings, showcasing the work of local filmmakers and artists in neighborhood parks, outdoor spaces and other venues. This year will draw audiences to favorite neighborhood haunts for Opening Night on the patio at El Rio, the Film Crawl on Cortland Avenue including cafes, art studios, the local library and neighborhood center and Under the Stars on everyone’s beloved green at Precita Park. Finally, the 2014 season is capped off by the Best of Bernal Night at Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts for an encore screening of the 2014-award winning films.

The Submissions/Selections Committee has completed the difficult task of making final selections amongst the many find productions submitted this year. Check back on August 18 for the final lineup of films and their scheduled screening dates and locations.

This full season features four nights of short films: animation, documentaries, narratives, performance, art and music videos. Live music, after parties and awards are all included in the weekend schedule and the finale presentation of the Best of Bernal, Spirit of Bernal and Audience Award recipients in October. Mark your calendars and plan to attend!
